What types of aircraft do you offer for hire?
We currently offer a 2006 Cessna 172S in Air Work category which is IFR certified. The aircraft is maintained to CASA standards with Garmin G1000 avionics and Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast & Traffic Awareness System. Please check our Aircraft Hire page for further details.
Do you provide a pilot?
No. We do not provide instructional training. Pilots are required to hold a valid licence, medical and be recent. We only provide a pilot for check flights.
What licence do I need to hire an aircraft??
You must hold at minimum a current PPL (Private Pilot Licence) with appropriate endorsements. CPL and ATPL licence holders are also welcome. Must have 25hrs command experience on type. Competency on Cessna 172 Garmin G1000 is also required.
Do I need a current flight review?
A current Flight Review is a must as we do not provide instructors together with a valid Class 1 or 2 medical for a minimum PPL license.
Is a check flight required before hiring?
For new hirers, a check or proficiency flight with one of our pilots is required to ensure familiarity with aircraft systems, procedures, and local operations. It’s important you can demonstrate competency and understand procedures at Bacchus Marsh airport.
Are there currency requirements?
Yes. You must meet minimum recent flight hours to hire the aircraft safely. If you do not meet currency requirements, a short refresher flight may be needed.
What are the hire rates?
Rates are typically based on wet hire (fuel included) and charged per VDO hours (Engine start to stop).. You are also responsible for landing fees and air services enroute charges. Bacchus Marsh landing fees are included. Please check our Aircraft Hire page for current pricing.
Can I take the aircraft overnight or on multi-day trips?
Yes, minimum hours apply to overnight & extended periods of hire. Please contact us to discuss your itinerary.
Where can I fly?
You may fly anywhere within Australia, subject to CASA regulations, weather, fuel availability, and any restrictions noted in the aircraft’s operations manual. Unlicensed Aerodromes (ALA's) and remote or dirt strips require prior approval from Point Cook Aviation prior to departure.
Can I bring passengers?
Yes—provided your licence permits it, and you comply with aircraft weight and balance limitations. You are fully responsible for the safety of your passengers.
Do you offer prepaid hours at a discounted rate?
Yes. We offer prepaid hours at a discounted hourly rate. The rate is dependent on the number of prepaid hours you wish to purchase and current fuel costs etc. Please contact us if you are interested.
Do you have spare headsets available?
Yes. We have two spare headsets available for pickup and drop off in Point Cook.
Can I fly from other airports in Melbourne ?
We provide private aircraft for hire in Melbourne and available for cross hire from airports in Bacchus Marsh, Moorabbin, Essendon, Barwon Heads, Torquay and Point Cook.
